Reading for Whale Road Review's 10-Year Anniversary - December 13, 2025
|
Last Saturday I was honored to take part in Whale Road Review’s 10th Anniversary online reading. It was wonderful hearing award-winning and nominated writers read their poems and stories. During the event, I read my creative nonfiction work, “On Learning That Yale Scientists Restored the Brain Function of 32 Dead Pigs,” from WRR Issue #29. The prose piece was nominated for a Best Spiritual Literature Award and a Best of the Net Award. You can listen to me read it on WRR's recorded Anniversary reading (my piece begins at 1:22:55). Thanks to Katie Manning for organizing the event, and thanks to all the participants! |

Pushcart Prize Nomination for "Private Veneration," Creative Nonfiction - November 30, 2025
|
I was vacationing over Thanksgiving vacation with my family when I learned that one of my creative nonfiction flash pieces, “Private Veneration,” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by The Account. It’s an honor, and also a surprise, as I’ve mostly focused on poetry in these recent creative writing years.
It’s been soul-fulfilling to count myself a part of this broad writing community. I start the day reading poems in my inbox, learning what art can be. This new recognition of my work by The Account editors feels affirming. I am grateful to know I'm at home here, supported by this community. |
